Tria Chang aims to accompany others through difficult or lonely times by way of writing. Favorite topics include death, divorce, and diversity. Favorite animals include whales. Her writing has been featured in the Washington Post, the NYT Now app, HuffPost, Narratively, Slant’d Media, Thought Catalog, and the Editor’s Picks of Medium, among other places. She is also a staff writer at Mochi Magazine. When not writing, Tria co-runs Make America Dinner Again, and has appeared on NPR, BBC, ABC, The Blaze, Mother Jones, and at SXSW to discuss and model how to build understanding across political lines.

    Mama was born in the year of the Dog. In the Chinese Zodiac, dogs are known to be loyal and stubborn, of which she was both, but mostly I thought of her as brave.
