Aquina Dicha

Aquina Dicha is a Los Angeles born multidisciplinary artist with Taiwanese-Indonesian roots. Dissecting the complexities of her turbulent relationship with cultural identity, as a result of society’s emphasis on patriarchal values as well as her nomadic upbringing, she relies on the phrase “the mother carries the culture” to be the foundation for her artistic practice and research. Creating work which explores themes related to displacement, diaspora struggles, generational trauma, and the matriarchal lineage. She earned her BFA in Illustration from Parsons School of Design, and her MA in Writing from Royal College of Art. Her work has previously been featured in Slate Magazine, and in exhibitions such as Light Space & Time’s 13th Annual “All Women” Art Exhibition, along with their 13th Annual “Open” Art Exhibition.
