Gabrielle Bates’s poetry comics are fueled by histories and experiences of the Deep South, where she grew up, as well as an interest in experimental reading practices and text/image hybridity. Her poems can be found in the New Yorker, POETRY, New England Review, Black Warrior Review, and Gulf Coast, among other journals, and have been featured in art shows, conferences, and festivals all over the world. Currently, Gabrielle lives in Seattle, where she works for Open Books: A Poem Emporium; helps edit the Seattle Review, Poetry Northwest, Broadsided Press, and Bull City Press; and co-hosts the podcast The Poet Salon.
