Tamiko Nimura

Tamiko Nimura is an award-winning Asian American creative nonfiction writer, public speaker, and public historian. Born and raised in Northern California, she now lives with her family in Tacoma, Washington on unceded Puyallup/Coast Salish land. Her work has appeared in a variety of outlets including The Rumpus, Off Assignment, Zócalo Public Square, San Francisco Chronicle, Smithsonian Magazine, Discover Nikkei, and Seattle’s International Examiner. Her co-authored graphic novel, WE HEREBY REFUSE (2021), was a finalist in nonfiction for the Washington State Book Award. She is completing her third book, a memoir titled A PLACE FOR WHAT WE LOSE: A DAUGHTER’S RETURN TO TULE LAKE.
